Important documents to be used as reference in other countries must always be legalized by Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to be considered as legal documents. In addition, any documents made in foreign languages must be authenticated by Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate located in the relevant countries or the foreign embassies located in Thailand prior to being translated into Thai and legalized by Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs so as to be considered as legal documents by Thai government agencies.

Legalization is the process of authentication and affixation of the official seal by the Notary Public or the Authorized Officer of Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, or Diplomatic Service Officer or Competent Authority to certify correctness and validity of the document in accordance with the original copies.

Most of the documents which can be legalized include official documents issued by Thai government agencies, such as birth certificate, death certificate, certificate of name change, identification card, house registration, marriage registration, divorce registration, marital status certificate, company registration certificate and other documents issued by Thai government agencies.

You are required to prepare the following documents:

1. Original copies of the documents to be translated and legalized (for the Officer’s review at the legalization stage and will be returned to you)

2. One set of photocopies of the documents to be translated without signing for certification of true copies

3. Copy of identification card signed for certification of true copy

4. Copy of passport to see the person’s name and last name in English

5. Signed Power of Attorney (Download here) 

If you are inconvenient to bring the above documents to us in person, you can deliver them by registered mail or EMS. We will take good care of your documents and complete all processes on your behalf. Then, the documents will be returned to you by EMS of which status can be traced via TRACK & TRACE link.
